Agatha All Along has worked its magic and stirred up a social media frenzy similar to WandaVision in 2021. But this time, the chatter surrounds the mysterious identity of Joe Locke’s character, Teen.
The sixteen-year-old is under a dark spell that means his lips are sealed – quite literally – every time he tries to say his name or reveal more about his past.
Fans suspect that this dark magic-loving, Agatha fan (who is happy to be referred to as her “pet” or “Toto” for now) will have a more important role to play not only in this series but the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. After all, only a powerful witch could cast such a spell.
Episode three only added to this speculation as Teen started to ask more questions about Agatha’s missing son, who the witches think she wouldn’t recognise “even if he turned up at her door” – similar to how Teen did.
As each week passes, and another episode lands, speculation only grows. With all that in mind, here are the most popular theories about the true identity of Teen in Agatha All Along.
Nicholas Scratch
2024 Marvel / Disney
The initial suspicion was that Teen is Agatha’s lost son, Nicky – AKA, Nicholas Scratch. Eagle-eyed viewers will have spotted the glimpse into Agatha’s son’s room in episode one, which revealed his name and introduced the idea of this Comic Book character making an appearance in this series.
In the comics, Nicholas became the leader of the New Salem community in Colorado and eventually, ended up as a supervillain fighting against the Fantastic Four and betraying his own mother.
In episode three, Teen becomes curious about this mysterious figure and asks Jen more about the son, who she says could be dead, a “daemon” or an “agent of Mephisto.” It’s unclear if the teen was asking out of his fascination with Agatha, or his own self-interest to know if any of the coven suspect him, or what they know about Nicky.
If you were around for the WandaVision days, there was a lot of speculation that Mephisto was involved in the creation of Wanda’s hex. Could this be another bluff? Or are we finally about to meet an evil follower of the ruler of Hell?
Billy Maximoff
Disney+ / Marvel
The most popular theory amongst fans is that Locke is playing an older version of Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son, who we see in WandaVision as a ten-year-old boy.
There have been many hints that this might be the teen’s true identity, such as his obsession with dark magic and his need to travel the Witches’ Road – which grants anyone one reward. This could be to free his mother, Wanda, who Agatha has already teased might not be dead when she stated “You never know” in episode 1, when she was still trapped in her detective illusion.
Smaller clues include being surrounded in a blue hue during the show, similar to Billy in WandaVision, and the shape sigma on the teen’s lips, as the black stitches seem to form a ‘W’ or ‘M’ shape. This could hint that the powerful witch who cast the spell was his mother, Wanda Maximoff.
The timeline doesn’t add up with WandaVision. Agatha All Along is set three years later, so Billy would be 13 rather than 16. However, he could be a copy of Wanda and Vision’s son.
Billy Kaplin in the comics, aka Wiccan, held the power to rewrite the rules of magic and was an extremely powerful witch in his own right and part of the Young Avengers. Only time will tell what the true identity of this teen is… and with magic involved, anything could happen.
