Among all, one of the most notable price revisions is of the iPhone XR, which was claimed to be the world’s highest selling smartphone according to a report by IHS Market. As per IHS Market numbers, Apple has shipped 26.4 million units of the iPhone XR in 2019 so far.
Post the revision, both the 64GB and 128GB storage variants of the iPhone XR are now listed at Rs 27,000 less than before. The base variant is now officially under the Rs 50,000 mark as it is listed at Rs 49,990. Before the 2019 iPhones launch, the price of this variant of the iPhone XR was listed on the Apple website as Rs 76,900. As for the second storage variant of 128GB, Apple has officially reduced the price to Rs 54,900. There is no mention of the new price of the 256GB variant on the Apple website.
Readers must note that back in April, Apple had unofficially dropped the prices of the iPhone XR in India. It wasn’t an official price cut but through offline retailers, online retailers and bank offers, the base variant of iPhone XR was available as low as Rs 53,900.
At the time of filing this report, the new prices of the iPhone XR on both Flipkart, Paytm Mall and Amazon are not yet updated. As of now, the 64GB variant is selling at Rs 59,999, the 128GB is selling at Rs 64,999 and the 256GB is selling at Rs 82,000. Back in October 2018, when the iPhone XR was made available in India, it came with a starting price of Rs 76,900 for the 64GB variant. The other two variants were priced at Rs 81,900 and Rs 91,900 respectively. Even though it was pitched as an ‘affordable’ iPhone, it was out of reach for a majority of Indian buyers.
