Netflix is our favorite way to enjoy movies, TV and documentaries on our various devices, but it can be hard to keep track of all the cool content coming and going every month. What are the new arrivals and which ones deserve your precious viewing time? In this monthly list, we’ll answer these questions with our best tips for Netflix.

Netflix: best shows and movies coming in November 2018

While it’s not possible to do a comprehensive analysis of all the new shows and movies coming to Netflix this month, we’ve presented a few special recommendations below.

Children of Men

Set in a dystopian future in which humanity is unable to reproduce, Children of Men blends together science fiction, human drama and tense action with an accomplished visual style. In a repressive authoritarian Britain, our hero Theo agrees to smuggle a pregnant refugee to safety, carrying humanity’s last hope through a brutal post-apocalyptic civil war. Grim, gritty, but always compelling, Children of Men is heavy viewing, but well worth the ride.

House of Cards

It’s intrigue, corruption and backstabbing on Capitol Hill as House of Cards returns for its sixth and final season, this time sans Kevin Spacey, who was fired from the award-winning show due to allegations of sexual assault. Nonetheless, Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood is every bit the anti-hero her husband was, and we look forward to seeing how she fends off outside enemies and traitors alike as the new US president.

Super Drags

Not all heroes wear capes. Some like sequins and stilettos too! In this new animated series for adults, crime-fighters get fabulous. By day, Patrick, Ralph and Donizete are three young gay men (voiced by RuPaul’s Drag Race graduates Trixie Mattel, Shangela, Willam, and Ginger Minj) who work in a department store, by night they unleash the divas inside them: three drag superheroines who fight against the evil Lady Elza, who sows hatred against the LGBTQ community.

Available: November 9

Green Room

This tense horror-thriller doesn’t rely on ghouls and ghosts to keep you on the edge of your seat. Instead, this story follows the fate of a group of touring punk musicians who unwittingly get booked for a show in a Neo-Nazi venue in rural America. Things soon take a gruesome turn in the titular green room, and our plucky punks must escape as the Nazi gang, led by an uncharacteristically sinister Patrick Stewart, close in on them.

Narcos: Mexico

The Guadalajara cartel is now the center of action for this new season of Netflix’s most addictive series. After the fall of Pablo Escobar and the Cali cartel, it’s now all about the narcotic intrigues of Mexico. The cast includes Diego Luna as drug trafficker Felix Gallardo, going up against Michael Peña, in the role of DEA agent Kiki Camarena. Even without the presence of Pablo Escobar, the new series of Narcos will have plenty of offer action junkies.

Available: November 16

The Ballad of Buster Scraggs

The Coen brothers’ latest film comes as a Netflix original. Set in the Old West, the film is divided into six chapters that tell six different stories set on the US border. On a curious note, singer Tom Waits stars in one of them. The gravel-voiced growler is joined by more familiar faces like James Franco, Liam Neeson and Joe Kazan. Tim Blake Nelson stars as the titular gunslinger/musician Buster Scruggs. Joel and Ethan Coen have an impressive track record of fantastic films, and we expect their typical blend of excellent cinema and quirky humor to shine in this anthology.
