Pune: A 34-year-old businessman from Ahmedabad lost his smartphone worth Rs 50,000 to two robbers in the early hours of Friday outside a restaurant in Hinjewadi Phase-II.
An officer from the Hinjewadi police said that the complainant Dhruva Akhani is a cotton trader. On Thursday, Akhai, his wife and their friend had come to Pune for a trip, and were staying in a hotel in Hinjewadi.
“On Wednesday night, they went to a restaurant for dinner. Around midnight, the complainant received a video call from his home. For an uninterrupted network, he stepped out of the restaurant to receive the call,” the officer said.
Two men on a motorcycle stopped near him. One of them snatched the complainant’s smartphone and the duo drove away from the spot.
“The complainant was not able to note down the registration number of the motorcycle, however, has given us the description of the duo. We have launched a search for them,” the officer added.
