Halo Infinite Season 1: Heroes of Reach announced alongside 3-month multiplayer seasons

A week and a half after the reveal of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer gameplay at the Xbox E3 2021 show, 343 Industries has announced in a new ‘Inside Infinite’ blog post that the game’s first multiplayer season will be called “Heroes of Reach.” It’s not clear what content will be included in the season, but we’re expecting lots of Halo: Reach-themed content such as the armor sets worn by Noble Team in Halo: Reach’s campaign. Heroes of Reach will go live with the launch of Halo Infinite later this year during Holiday 2021.

The blog post also focuses on Halo Infinite’s seasonal structure overall, with the developers emphasizing that Halo Infinite’s season pass won’t be grindy in nature and that players will be able to earn rewards from the “free Battle Pass track, the paid Battle Pass track, challenges, skill rewards, event reward tracks, legacy rewards, and some campaign actions.”

343 Industries also confirmed that Halo Infinite’s seasons will be three months long, which was an amount of time chosen to give players time to engage with each season’s content in a healthy way. “So, we decided on roughly 3 months because it gives players a good amount of time to experience and explore the Seasonal content, without it getting tiresome and without constantly pulling the rug from under players,” says Ryan Paradis of Halo Infinite’s Live Team. “We want to ensure that there’s always a fresh and fun reason to be playing Halo Infinite, but that the things they know and love will be around for more than a heartbeat.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Season 1: Heroes of Reach sounds cool, and do you like that each Halo Infinite season will last three months? Do you think there are enough avenues for earning rewards? Let me know. I recommend checking out the blog post in full, as there are some cool details about how the developers are designing a mobile app for managing your customization and gameplay stats and also how 343 Industries is planning to incorporate more story-themed content into multiplayer experiences.

With any luck, Halo infinite will prove to be one of the best Xbox games ever made when it releases later this year. I’m looking forward to playing it when it comes to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10 (and Windows 11) PCs. Notably, you can preorder the game now for $60, but if you’re only interested in the multiplayer, it will be completely free. There’s also a Halo Infinite beta coming in summer 2021 you can sign up to be a part of (check our guide on how to sign up for Halo Infinite’s beta for more information).
