Huawei is expected to launch a triple-folding smartphone in July. The move is believed to give the Chinese company a boost in the foldable smartphone segment, especially in competition with other brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi. According to reports, the alleged triple smartphone was found in the hands of a top Huawei official. This corresponds to the prototype developed by the tipster company as part of its research and development.
Huawei’s triple-folding smartphone has leaked onto the internet
As reported by Android Headlines, Huawei’s tri-folding smartphone was spotted by Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. It appears to have a large internal screen that folds three ways.
A “whistleblower” (in Chinese translation) from a digital chat station on Weibo suggested that the device resembles a prototype that was previously accessed. The smartphone also has a 10-inch internal display with a cutout for the front-facing camera on the left edge of the screen.
It’s also said to be “medium” thick, despite being three times the size of a smartphone. The purported Huawei phone could be powered by the Kirin 9 series processor, which was previously speculated to power the Huawei Mate 70 series coming to China. This is one of the new apps from the Chinese smartphone maker.
In a July post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster Ice Universe suggested that Huawei could be the first company in the world to release a tri-folding smartphone. Samsung, one of the oldest foldable smartphone lines on the market, has reportedly fallen behind in its efforts to make standard foldable phones thinner. The tipster then suggested that Huawei “had no competition for a long time after launch.”
