During the fourth quarter of 2020, Apple sold an unexpectedly hefty 18 million mobile phones in China. This means the company’s share of the smartphone market increased from 10% to 20%.
In other respects, sales in the Chinese market were dominated by that nation’s own brands, not least Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, which have a combined share of 78%.
Interestingly, it has also emerged that Chinese customers now buy more 5G models than 4G models, in a promising sigh for the rollout of the new standard.
