A 54-year-old man suffered head injuries after he walked into a City Heights intersection and into the path of an oncoming car early Friday morning, a San Diego police sergeant said.

The incident happened about 5:10 a.m. at University and Marlborough avenues, Sgt. Cynthia Hannah said.

She said the man is believed to have been intoxicated when he walked into the street and into the path of a Hyundai driven by a 65-year-old woman, who had a green light.

The man sustained a skull fracture and a brain bleed, but his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, Hannah said.
