A BRAND-NEW electric sports car is set to be rolled out as fans are getting excited by its familiar 90s look.
Subaru showed what a potential electric car might look like under the brand at the 2023 Tokyo auto show.
The design has striking similarities to the beloved SVX from the 1990s.
The car has body panels designed to help with easier air flow and use sleek, lightweight materials like forged carbon to keep the car at its quickest.
Inside the concept, the driver sat in a low seat and faced a unique square-shaped steering wheel.
Like most modern cars it will have touchscreens to show the driver a whole load of information from directions to music play.
Although in a twist to the Subaru brand, side-mounted cameras would be used to display information on in place of traditional side mirrors most other brands go with.
Last year, Subaru announced the STI E-RA sports car concept as a test car for high-performance EV technology.
The potential car featured four electric motors generating a combined whopping 1,072 horsepower.
The setup was also able to deliver fast and precise torque vectoring via independent control of each individual motor.
Subaru used the Tokyo auto show to really show off all the impressive things they’ve been working on.
They showcased a high-riding version of its Levorg compact wagon only sold in Japan in a new version called the Levorg Layback.
The manufacturer also presented a wacky concept for a flying taxi that has got people talking.
Dubbed the Air Mobility Concept, the design resembles a huge drone, big enough to carry a driver and one passenger.
Subaru said engineers from its aerospace division are currently working on a version capable of making practise flights soon.
These new cars are a change after Subaru announced it was discontinuing its WRX STI over difficulties meeting manufacturing regulations.
At the start of 2023 the company’s dealer Marino’s said these regulations are tied to fuel economy and emissions as the world goes more electric.
Japanese automaker Honda has also brought back the once-popular Prelude model after it was axed in 2001.
The reimagined two-seat coupe boasts a long front overhand, short dash-to-axle distance and a forward-placed cabin.
The vehicle’s pointy nose, flowing curves and wide fenders all give the Prelude a sporty look.
