OnePlus has been busy with lots of launch events in recent months, but the next one is just around the corner.
The company has confirmed a “Summer Launch Event” for 16 July in Milan, promising a “statement piece that shatters all conventions”. The page on its official website doesn’t give much away, but recent posts on X (formerly Twitter) all but confirm a new Nord phone.
So, what might the OnePlus Nord 4 bring to the table? The teaser above suggests metal will feature heavily, leading the likes of Android Authority to speculate that it could mark the return of a metal unibody design.
Essentially, this just means the phone is made from a single piece of metal shaped across the entire back and sides of the phone. This was common on early smartphones such as HTC’s One series, which was phased out back in 2016.
A physical invite to the event sent out by OnePlus includes the following statement: “Some say it’s impossible in the 5G era to make a smartphone with the strength, sophistication and enduring quality of metal. We say…Never Settle.”
The three benefits mentioned by the company could be key selling points for the Nord 4, especially as it’s still expected to be a mid-range phone. As a reminder, the OnePlus Nord 3 cost £499/€499 at launch.
OnePlus has yet to reveal anything concrete about the phone, though the post above indicates we’ll hear more on 9 July.
However, a post by leaker Sanju Choudhary on X reveals many key specs, plus a two-tone rear design:
If true, that’d mean the Nord 4 isn’t the same phone as the Ace 3V, which launched back in China in March.
Hopefully, this will be revealed on 9 July. If not, you’ll have to wait until the 16 July launch, which we’ll be covering here on Tech Advisor.
