The Taycan Cross Turismo Should Debut in Late 2021
With all the delays from just about every industry and almost the entire list of carmakers, we wouldn’t blame you if you thought Porsche is delaying the Taycan Cross Turismo due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to CEO Oliver Blume, that isn’t the case at all. In fact, Porsche is one of the few automakers that remained profitable throughout the first half of the year, part of which can be attributed to it earning more than $10,000 in profit per model sold. So, why is the Cross Turismo being delayed? According to Blume, it’s because there is so much demand for the Taycan. So this is more about optimization for profit than any type of struggle.

Blume even went on to say that Porsche “looks to the future with confidence.” Apparently, China’s bouncing back so quickly and rise in demand for Porsche vehicles is being attributed to at least part of Porsche’s impressive success during such a dark and turbulent time. Other factors include changes made on the go and the company’s “focus on the essentials.”
Even better yet, and despite the Cross Turismo’s delay, Porsche is confident that it will not cancel any car projects as the result of market problems due to the pandemic going forward. So, as of now, it’s forward and upward for Porsche, but the company will continue to optimize and change as it goes. As for the new Cross Turismo, we don’t expect to see that until early-to-late fall of 2021.
