Redmi 9A Sport and Redmi 9i Sport entry-level smartphones launched: Price, specs and other details

Smartphone major Xiaomi has introduced two entry-level phones in India under the Redmi brand without much fanfare. The company has launched Redmi 9A Sport and Redmi 9i Sport. The duo come powered by MediaTek processors and are backed by a 5,000mAh battery.
Price and availability
Redmi 9A Sport comes in two RAM models- 2GB and 3GB paired with 32GB internal storage. The former is priced at Rs 6,999 while the latter carries a price tag of Rs 7,999.
Similarly, the Redmi 9i Sport comes with a starting price of Rs 8,799 for the base variant that packs 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Another model has 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is priced at Rs 9,299.
Both the handsets will be available today from 12 pm onwards. They can be purchased via and Amazon along with offline retail stores.
Redmi 9A Sport specifications
Redmi 9A has a 6.53-inch TFT IPS HD+ screen with 1600×720 pixel resolution. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core processor and runs on MIUI based on Android operating system.
The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery and offers support for 10watt fast charging. As mentioned above, the phone offers up to 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The internal storage of the device can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone features a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, it comes with a 5MP front camera. Carbon Black, Metallic Blue and Coral Green are the colour variants of the phone.
Redmi 9i Sport specifications
Redmi 9i Sport is powered by MediaTek Helio G25 chipset and runs on MIUI. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.53-inch TFT IPS HD+ screen. The display has a resolution of 1600×720 and offers a 20:9 aspect ratio.
It comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It packs 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is expandable up to 512GB. It is offered in three colour options- Carbon Black, Metallic Blue and Coral Green.
