Harassing communication: Bramblewood Lane

A resident received a phone call Sept. 4 from someone claiming to be with Apple support. The caller wanted to walk her through her online account. She recognized it as a scam and did not proceed.

The city later put out a mass notification to residents, as several others reported receiving the same robo-call.

Crash: Beta Drive

An employee of a healthcare facility was hurrying Sept. 8 when parking her vehicle and accidentally struck a parked vehicle. That vehicle struck another and caused it to strike the building. No structural damage was found. A private-property accident report was made.

Trespassing: SOM Center Road

A dirt bike was seen being ridden through the Wetlands Sept. 4. Officers did not observe the action, but learned who was riding the bike and advised the boy’s father that his son cannot ride in that area.

Traffic complaint: Interstate 271

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle traveling over 100 mph Sept. 3, but the driver failed to stop. Willoughby Hills police were advised to look for the vehicle as it entered that city.

Special attention: Timberline Trail

A resident said Sept. 3 that he had been harassed by two younger male suspects a couple weeks ago because of his political yard sign. Special attention was requested to his property.

Traffic stop: Interstate 271

Officers stopped a vehicle Sept. 2 for traveling over 100 mph and found an open can of beer and a loaded gun inside of it. The driver said he was speeding due to a family emergency. He was cited for improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, speeding and open container.

Suspicion: Beta Drive

A caller reported Sept. 2 seeing a First Energy worker harnessed to a utility pole but not moving. Officers learned that the company was conducting a training and it was a mannequin on the pole. The company was advised to contact police when conducting training sessions.
