Rumor: OPPO’s First Foldable Smartphone Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected

OPPO’s first foldable smartphone will be here sooner than you think. If he is to be believed, it will debut next month. Take this information with a grain of salt; after all, it’s still only a rumour.

Another thing the source mentioned is that an 8-inch primary panel would be present. It appears that the foldable display will have a 120Hz refresh rate and will be an LTPO screen. In other words, variable / adaptive refresh rate will be supported.

The device will be of the in-folding sort, according to the tip. In other words, unlike Huawei’s approach with the Mate X, its foldable display will be protected while folded.

The last piece of information he shared has to do with the included SoC. This smartphone will, allegedly, be fueled by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. That is one of the two most powerful SoCs Qualcomm has to offer at the moment.

Another rumor suggested that the device may include a 50-megapixel camera from Sony. To be more precise, the Sony IMX766 sensor was mentioned. A 32-megapixel selfie camera may also be included, along with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

Now, according to earlier rumors, this smartphone may include a 4,500mAh battery on the inside. 65W fast wired charging was also mentioned, as was ColorOS 12.

That is basically everything that is rumored when it comes to this smartphone. Based on its foldable display size, we presume it will resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to a degree. It will likely open up like a book, and have a secondary display on the outside.

Don’t’ expect this smartphone to be cheap, though. It will offer high-end specs, not to mention that foldables are still not exactly affordable. It remains to be seen how much will it cost, but we do expect it to cost less than the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
