A suspected auto-burglar has been arrested following a two-week investigation spearheaded by the auto-theft task force, according to the Laredo Police Department.
On Tuesday afternoon, Roberto Alejandro Duarte, 32, was served with arrest warrants charging him with burglary of a vehicle with two or more previous convictions and theft of property with two or more previous convictions.
The case unfolded on Dec. 26, when officers responded to the 100 block of Martingale for a burglary of a vehicle report. A man stated to police that a car speaker worth $300 was missing.
Duarte was identified as the suspect via surveillance footage. Investigators presented their case to an assistant district attorney who determined that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with securing the warrant of arrest.
