Pricing for the all-new and controversial all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger recently hit the web and according to the leak, the new Charger Daytona First Edition will start at a hefty $68,570. The pricing data surfaced via Mopar enthusiast site and forum, MoparInsiders, who cite YouTuber Butter da Insider, as the source of the pricing info. However, nothing’s been officially confirmed from Dodge or Stellantis.

It’s no mystery that a new, eighth generation Dodge Charger is on the way, and it’s a major change from the outgoing model, which has been with us for a whopping 12 years. The biggest change is the obvious transition from internal combustion engine propulsion to an all-electric powertrain, a move that’s part of Stellantis’ major electric vehicle initiative. So the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and the HEMI V-8 in its various forms are sadly no more for the Charger nameplate.

Like other new car reveals with high profiles, Dodge is launching the new all-electric Charger with a commemorative “First Edition,” featuring a bucketlist of unique and bespoke appointments and features that one can only get with said First Edition. And like all other introductory and celebratory models, it comes with a premium, a $70,000 premium to be exact for the Daytona R/T First Edition. That’s a whopping $15,000 more than the outgoing V-8 HEMI-powered equivalent.

Just as a refresher, you needed $45,065 to land the outgoing 2023 Dodge Charger R/T equipped with the automaker’s venerable 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 in your driveway while a more powerful Charger Scat Pack with its 6.4-liter HEMI commanded $51,925.

Besides paying a premium to be the first to get one, what else does one get with the Daytona R/T First Edition? Well, if the leak is accurate, buyers will supposedly be treated with an extra 40 horsepower from the all-electric powertrain, for a total of around 496 horses, compliments of the “Direct Connection eStage 1 Upgrade.” It also comes with a “Plus Group” package, adding leather-wrapped performance seats with heating and cooling, heated rear seats, adjustable interior ambient lighting, a larger 16-inch gauge cluster, and upgraded exterior LED headlights and signature day-time running lights with LED-illuminated door handles.

Should one want to call dibs on a fancier Daytona Scat Pack in “Configuration 1,” buyers will have to pony up a staggering $82,170. With the higher price, one obviously gets more, with the Scat Pack featuring a “Direct Connection eStage 2 Upgrade” that bumps the power by 80 horses for a total of 670 hp. Also supposedly included in “Configuration 1” is the Track Pack as standard, adding beefed up Brembo six-piston fixed calipers, leather and suede performance leather seats, and an onboard recording system for driving with a bespoke front-facing camera.

In addition to being the first-ever all-electric Charger, the new performance muscle car is expected to come with emulated ICE noises that replicate the V-8 engine and exhaust note and in three trims with a variety of of packages: R/T, Scat Pack, and Scat Pack with Track Package. Even more powerful models, likely in succession to the original SRT models, are anticipated on the horizon.
