In Valheim, it seems like everything is out to kill you, and that’s because it is. Valheim can be cruel and unforgiving, and at times you can feel very alone in its sprawling world. Luckily for you, there’s someone happy to see you, and that’s Haldor the Merchant. Haldor is a traveling dwarf that can give the player some very rare and very useful items — if you have the coin to spare, that is. Here’s how to find Haldor the Merchant.
Where is the Merchant in Valheim?

Valheim is a procedurally generated game, and because of this, it’s hard to pinpoint Haldor’s location, as it varies from world to world. We do know that he spawns randomly in the Black Forest biome and that he doesn’t spawn very far from the center of the map where you start. I found him southwest of the center of the map, but I had to cross a large body of water to find him. Your mileage may vary.
Once you’re in the merchant’s vicinity, he’ll be marked on your map with a bag of coins. That mark is there to stay, so don’t worry about losing the Merchant’s location once you continue traveling. It also seems like the Merchant does not travel at all and can always be found in the location you find him at. Haldor is currently the only Merchant in the game.

Haldor sells the player gear that can’t be found otherwise. You can only use Gold Coins to buy Haldor’s merchandise. Gold Coins can be found in Swamp Crypts, Troll Caves, Fuling Villages, and just about any random chest you may discover in the wild. You can also sell Amber, Amber Pearl, and Rubys to Haldor for some quick cash.
Money is the key to success
That’s how you find Haldor the Merchant in Valheim. Haldor’s wares can’t be crafted must be bought from him for some cold hard cash. His use may be limited now, but it’s likely that he might have more to sell soon enough, so be sure to craft a portal near him for easy access. Valheim is still in early access, but it’s already one of the best survival games on the PC.
