Apple iPhone 15 May Launch on September 13, 2023

Apple regularly launches new iPhones each September on an annual basis, and this pattern is expected to continue for the Apple iPhone 15. While the company did not confirm the official keynote date yet, it is speculated that this may happen in the 2nd week of September.

The information comes from a new memo that was cited by 9to5Mac. In this memo, Apple has requested its employees to avoid taking leave or time off on September 13. There was no explicit reason behind this directive, but it is widely believed it is due to an important smartphone announcement.

Based on last year’s iPhone 14 that was officially announced on September 7, a Wednesday, September 13 next month is also a Wednesday. Although both dates being similar is a hint of the possible Apple event, the iPhone 15 release may also kick off at a different time. In other words, the pre-order could happen a few days after the announcement followed by its actual availability a week or so after that.

Of course, each iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro model might even get a different release date depending on the region and other factors. For instance, the standard iPhone 14 and the two iPhone 14 Pro (review) models hit stores first before the iPhone 14 Plus (review) arrived only in October due to supply chain issues. It remains unknown if this year’s iPhone range will experience a similar schedule.

Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro specifications and features

Concerning the specifications, the vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are tipped to come with the Dynamic Island cutout on the display. Both will also share the Type-C USB port that replaces the Lightning port. In addition, the other notable new features include a stacked 48 MP main rear sensor and the A16 Bionic chipset.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would most likely debut with a titanium frame alongside the action button that can be found on the Watch Ultra. Their camera setup may be partly changed as only the bigger Pro Max could receive a periscope camera. At the same time, the two handsets will be powered by the A17 Bionic processor.

There are also reports that the battery capacities on the four iPhone 15 variants will be higher. Hence, battery life on the lineup is anticipated to improve. Specifically, it was recently mentioned by Twitter leaker @RGCloudS that Apple will utilize a stacked battery design, which explains the increased battery capacity without adding heft to the final product.

Beyond the specifications and features, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rumored to be more expensive compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. Having higher onboard storage for the base models is touted to be one of the reasons. What remains unclear is whether prices for the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will remain unchanged.
