Huawei Pocket 2 foldable smartphone launched: 4 cameras, 66W charging and more

Huawei has officially launched its latest clamshell foldable phone, the Pocket 2, in China.

It boasts the distinction of being the world’s first flip foldable phone to feature a set of four cameras on its cover.

Display and Cameras

The Pocket 2 features a sizable 6.94” foldable LPTO OLED main screen that delivers a stunning Full HD+ resolution. Complementing this is a 1.15” circular screen on the cover, designed with a dual-circle symmetric layout.

The phone’s camera setup includes a powerful 50 MP main shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an impressive f/1.6 aperture.

Furthermore, it offers a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and an innovative 2 MP UV sensor with hyperspectral capabilities, providing advanced detection of UV intensity and sunspots.

Performance and Storage

Although specific details about the chipset were not disclosed, the Pocket 2 is anticipated to be powered by the Kirin 9000S processor.

With 12 GB of RAM, users can expect an optimised multitasking experience. The phone offers ample storage options, including 256 GB, 512 GB, and an expansive 1 TB capacity for the standard model.

Additionally, Huawei introduces the Pocket 2 Art variant, featuring an impressive 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

Battery and Charging

Equipped with a robust 4,520 mAh battery, the Pocket 2 provides extended usage and endurance.

Notably, it introduces 40W wireless charging, a first for flip foldable phones, alongside an impressive 66W wired charging capability to ensure swift and efficient recharging.

To address potential heating issues, Huawei has integrated a VC and multiple graphite layers into the device to enhance overall thermal conductivity.

Additional Features

The Pocket 2 comes pre-installed with Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4, offering a seamless and intuitive user interface.

Notably, users have the freedom to customise the cover screen according to their preferences, with options including a clock display, mood wallpapers, animated GIFs, and avatars, providing a personalised and engaging user experience.
