Nokia phone maker HMD launches Pulse smartphone lineup |

HMD Global, the brand licensee of Nokia mobile phones, has unveiled its first batch of self-branded lineup — the Pulse series. Comprising the Pulse, Pulse Plus, and Pulse Pro, this trio of devices aims to cater to the budget segment while also those seeking environmentally conscious, accessible and repairable solutions.

HMD Pulse: 90Hz display, 13MP camera for €140

HMD Pulse, the base model priced at €140 (around Rs 12,000), features a 6.65-inch LCD display with a 720p+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Pulse is powered by the Unisoc T606 chipset, a 12nm octa-core processor with two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, accompanied by a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. Memory configurations include 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot.
The Pulse features a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, complemented by a depth sensor. Selfie enthusiasts can enjoy an 8MP front-facing camera housed in a punch-hole cutout.

HMD Pulse Plus: 50MP camera, fast charging for an extra €60

The HMD Pulse Plus costs €160 (around Rs 14,000). While it retains the same display, chipset, and memory options as the base model, it boasts a 50MP primary camera on the rear, promising improved image quality and detail.
Despite the camera upgrade on the back, the Pulse Plus maintains the same 8MP front-facing camera as its sibling. Like the Pulse, this model supports a 5,000mAh battery capacity but with an added 20W fast charging capability.

HMD Pulse Pro: Two 50MP cameras, fast charging, more memory for €180

The HMD Pulse Pro, priced at €180 (around Rs 16,000), tops the lineup. This variant retains the core specifications of its siblings, including the 6.65-inch 90Hz display, Unisoc T606 chipset, and 5,000mAh battery capacity.
However, the Pulse Pro distinguishes itself with a 50MP front-facing camera. On the rear, it sports the same 50MP primary camera and 2MP depth sensor as the Pulse Plus.
The Pulse Pro also boasts a few bonus touches, such as 20W fast charging and an expanded memory configuration of up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Shared features: Repairability and sustainability

One common thread across the entire HMD Pulse lineup is the emphasis on repairability and sustainability. HMD has designed these devices with “Gen 1 repairability,” allowing users to perform self-repairs, including battery and screen replacements, using self-repair kits from iFixit.
The 5,000mAh battery is rated for 800 complete charge cycles and is listed as “QuickFix replaceable,” enabling users to swap it out at home with essential tools in about 5 minutes. The IP52 rating for dust and water resistance is also maintained even after battery replacement, provided the instructions are followed carefully.
The HMD Pulse and Pulse Plus are available from HMD.com starting today, while the Pulse Pro will be available soon. In the US market, HMD will offer a single model called the “HMD Vibe,” priced at $150, which appears to be based on the Pulse variant.
