The 12 is currently tipped to launch with OnePlus’ most exciting top-end smartphone upgrades of the last few years. However, its charging tech is not one of them, according to a new leak. It suggests that the upcoming Android flagship might come with a new power brick – however, it will have the same specs as that of its predecessor the 11.

The 12 is currently tipped to launch with the brightest and best screen OnePlus has made yet, not to mention the fastest SoC and highest-end RAM spec of its flagship series yet. In the midst of all these rumored upgrades, it seems the brand forgot about improving on some of the 11’s other features in the process.

Nevertheless, OnePlus has reportedly thought to provide the upcoming smartphone with equally new power bricks, with the model numbers VCBAHBCH and VCBAOBCH. They have surfaced as part of the 12’s 3C certification, spotted by famous leaker Digital Chat Station as the device moves closer to a (possibly imminent) initial launch on the Chinese market.

Despite this apparent upgrade, the new accessories charge their companion smartphone at no more than 11V/9.1A: a profile most familiar to fans of the 11’s wired charging speeds. However, the 12 might not even be able to charge as fast as its predecessor – although it might also last longer – thanks to its rumored battery capacity upgrade.

Then again, it is also thought to benefit from additional powers, such as the wireless charging tech not seen even in OnePlus’ new foldable smartphone.
