OnePlus Fold’s Huge Camera Hump and Zoom Lens Leaked

Aside from the report that the OnePlus Fold could be launched as early as August this year, details about the first folding phone from the Chinese brand remained scarce. Fortunately, a bunch of third-party renders of the alleged device has been shared, providing us with the closest representation of what it could look like in real life. This includes the rumored camera setup and specs.

It was speculated that the OnePlus Fold, with the name not finalized yet, should carry over the design of Oppo’s Find N2 with a rather hefty form factor considering they are under the same parent company. However, it appears the OnePlus could actually squeeze in some of its design formula based on the photos that MySmartprix (via OnLeaks) published.

OnePlus Fold design and specs

Evidently, the OnePlus Fold has a full-folding book-style design and a taller aspect ratio that is closer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 (review) than the Oppo Find N2 which our colleague Matt reviewed. One of the materials showed how the device can be folded flat, where it becomes relatively thinner. This suggests the company will incorporate a more advanced custom hinge that was teased last year.

In addition, the inner and outer displays do seem to feature thin bezels, although it’s hard to distinguish how noticeable the display crease is on the former. There is also a cutout selfie camera on each panel while the rear houses a huge circular island that resembles the layout of the Oppo Find X6. The triple camera configuration with Hasselblad branding includes a periscope sensor which may share specifications s with the aforementioned shooter as well.

It was mentioned that the fingerprint sensor is integrated within the power button that is located on the right side along with the signature alert slider on the opposite end. Furthermore, both top and bottom sides house three speaker grilles with the lone USB-C port.

The OnePlus Fold is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset mated to a 2K main screen, a 4,800 mAh battery, and 100 watts SuperVOOC charging. More than that, the folding handset would most possibly run on ColorOS 13 which is based on Android 13. There is no word yet on how much the OnePlus Fold will cost when it is released.
