The Y200 is one of those Vivo smartphones that almost looks like a Samsung Galaxy S24 on first glance…until you realize that the bottom-most ‘lens’ in its traffic-light camera hump is in fact an LED ring that acts as a flash.
It currently goes for INR 21,999 (~$265) on Amazon.in with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage – however, for those who want to spend even less, the Y200e 5G might be on the way soon.
It has reportedly been approved for sale by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as the Vivo V2336, confirmed to be the Y200e by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).
Therefore, it will be interesting to see which Y200 selling points Vivo sacrifices in order to form its new E variant.
They might include a slim, flat-edged chassis that fits a 4,800mAh battery; a 64MP main shooter to use with the Aura Light (not to mention the Light itself) and a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with not even that much of a chin.
Then again, it seems its SoC is more definitely on the chopping block, as the Y200e is only approved to use Bluetooth 5.0, rather than the 5.1 standard of which the Y200’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 platform is capable.
I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
